Building Brooklyn

This bold eBook cover design was created as part of a pair, alongside ‘Birth of New York’, envisioning a history book series about the early, smoky boroughs of New York City becoming the international hubs that they are today.

The clean, bold font brings an element of modernism to the old, black and white archival photography backdrop. This, along with a much-needed pop of colour, subtly illustrates the sharp distinction between the early 20th century in the background and the clean, colourful, modernist times we now live in. The bold, coloured font at the front and centre of the design creates a clear and distinct identity, tying both books in the series together.
